Emma L. Poplar, 90, Church Choir Member

Emma L. Poplar, (nee Sniezek) of Lorain, died on Thursday, December 20, 2001, at Amherst Manor Retirement Community, following a 3-year illness.

She was born on December 17, 1911 in Skole, Poland, moving to Elyria at age 2. She was a 1930 graduate of Elyria High School. She came to Lorain in 1935.

Emma wass a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic church, Lorain, where she also was a member of the Ladies Guild and the choir.

She is survived by her sons: John of Northville, Michigan, and William of Amherst, 4 grandchildren and brother, Carl Sniezek of Amherst.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years: John J. Poplar in 1987, parents: Anton and Caroline (nee Pelikan) Sniezek, sisters: Adelia, Anna Urpschot, Nellie Zach, Verna Kaminski and brother: Anton (Pat) Sniezek.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 21, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Friends may also call on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, East 28th and Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
