Herminia Velazquez , 81, Nurse's Aid
Herminia Velazquez, (nee Cintron), died on Sunday, December 23, 2001 at Ohio Extended Care Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.She was born on August 17, 1920 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.
She was employed as a nurse's aid for 32 years at St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where she also was a member of the Charismatic Group of the church and AARP.
She is survived by her sons: Carlos and Miguel, both of Lorain, 9 granchildren, 17 great-granchildren, and 7 sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years: Carlos Velazquez, in 1974, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wednessday, December 26, 2001 from 5-9 p.m. at the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 11:00 mass at Sacred Heart Chapel. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
