George H. Scarry, 79, World War II Veteran
George H. Scarry, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2001 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a lengthy illness. He was born March 4, 1922 in East Liverpool, Ohio and moved to Sheffield Lake from Akron 44 years ago.During World War II he served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant in the Medical Detachment of the 332nd Engineer General Regiment in the Rhineland and Central Europe and received two bronze stars. In 1952 he graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Physics. George was employed as a Chemical Engineer for B.F. Goodrich, Avon Lake, retiring thirteen years ago. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Mr. Scarry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret JoAnn (nee Hobbs); a daughter, Particia Anderson of Conneaut, OH; and two sons, John Scarry of Chapel Hill, NC; and James Scarry. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Scarry; a sister, Mary Skelton and his parents, Francis and Ellen (nee Perks) Scarry.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday December 31 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Raymond Lamb will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
