Frank E. Latsnic, 73, U.S. Army Veteran

Frank E. Latsnic, of Lorain, died Sunday December 30, 2001 at Grace Hospital (Amherst) following an illness of five months. He was born March 21, 1928 in Mount Sterling, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain since 1949 coming from Pennsylvania.

A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as a sergeant and light weapons specialist.

Mr. Latsnic was employed as an electrician foreman in the maintenance division of the blast furnace department at U.S. Steel's Lorain Works. He retired in 1983 following 36 years of service.

An active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (Lorain), his hobbies included league bowling with the U.S. Steel Company Bowling League, fishing, and vegetable gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Ida A. Mannarelli, daughters: Maureen Negulescu and Cheryl Arroyo both of Avon Lake, a son: Edward, 8 grandchildren, one step granddaughter, his mother: JUlia (nee Gorcheck) of Clarksville, Pennsylvania, his brother: John W. of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and sisters: Dolly Kuzlinski of Dry Tavern, Pennsylvania, Dolores "Dee" Rumancik of North Canton, Ohio, and Shirley Morris of Meadville, Pennsylvania along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father: Steve, an infant daughter, and a sister: Elsie Horvat in 1999.

Funeral services for the family were conducted Thursday in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Henkle, O.F.M. Conv., associate pastor of the church officiating. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery where military honors were performed by officers and members of Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral arrangements were under direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel- Lorain.
