Howard E. Patton Jr., 82, U.S. Army Veteran
Howard E. Patton Jr., of Amherst died on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at his home following a long illness.Mr. Patton was born in Bunola, Pennsylvania, living most of his life in the Amherst area. He graduated from the Donora High School and attended Waynesburg College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was an active member and Elder of the Westminister Presbyterian Church now known as Heritage Presbyterian Church of Amherst. He was a life member of the F & AM Ccharleroi PA Lodge # 615, Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh.
In 1980 he retired as the general superintendent of Lake Terminal Railroad, having been employed there since 1961. He was in the 4th Ward City Councilman for Amherst Noon Day Club.
He is survived by his wife Bernice B. (nee Bane) Patton, his five sons, Drew Patton of Seville, OH, Jeff Patton of Greensboro, NC, KIm Patton of Tuscon, AZ, Mark Patton of Big Prairie, OH, and Seth Patton of Heath, OH, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his big sister Thelma McPherson of True or Consequences, NM.
Mr. Patton is preceded in death by his parents Howard E. Sr. and Mary B. (nee Connor) Patton.
Memorial services will be held on Jan 9, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Road in Amherst, OH, with Rev. James E. Smucker, pastor officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio has been entrusted with the arrangements.
