Lillian M. Rieder, 86, Children's Home Volunteer
Lillian M. Rieder (nee Welton) of Lorain, formerly of Strongsville and Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 15, at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Rieder was born February 6, 1915, in Scranton, PA, had lived in Cleveland for 45 years before moving to Strongsville and then Lorain.Mrs. Rieder was a homemaker. She was a former member of Christ Untied Methodist Church, Cleveland, a nd acurrent member of the Strongsville United Methodist Church. At both churches she was active in the ladies guild. At one time she was a member of the YMCA's Square Dance group. She volunteered for the Berea Children's Home, as well as the Berea Cancer Center. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and was described by her family as a fantastic cook.
Mrs. Rieder is survived by 2 sons, Ray (Dee) of Plymouth, Mass and Donald (Ardeth) of Sheffield Lake; 2 grandsons, Scott and Mark; a granddaughter Paula and 6 great grandchildren. Besides her husband of 49 years, Melford M., she is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mabel (nee Guy) Welton.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163, Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19. Funeral Service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation by Busch Crematory.
