Richard G. Newkirk, 86, US Navy Veteran

Mr. Newkirk was born on September 12, 1915 in Lorain, OH and was a life long resident. He was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1933 B. He was a veteran of the Us Navy serving in WWII. Mr. Newkirk retired in 1986 from Lorain County as an engineer and drawbridge operator at the Berry Bascul Bridge in Lorain.

He is preceded in death by his wife Catherine R. Newkirk on Nov. 14, 2000, and his parents Bruce E. and Bertha (nee Thomas) Newkirk.

Graveside services will be held on January 18, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, OH with Monsignor Kelly officiating.

Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Boyer and Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 have been entrusted with the arrangements.
