Ludwig Mautner, 100, Enjoyed Woodworking and Farming

Born August 22, 1901 in Hasreith, Germany where he was raised and lived until coming to the United States in 1925. He has made his home in Amherst since 1933.
Ludwig worked for National Tube/U.S. Steel Lorain retiring after 40 years in the Besimer Department in 1966. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Amherst. He enjoyed woodworking and farming.
Survivors include his daughter, Luttgard Bringman of Amherst; stepdaughter Helen Motta of Grafton, 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and brother Karl Mautner of Bogen, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years Anna (nee: Huber) in 1966; his second wife of 26 years Helen (nee: Eicholz) in 1993; his great grandson, Greg Shay; his parents Karl and Anna (nee: Renner) Mautner; his brother John Mautner; his sisters Josephine Heisenhuber, Anna Winkler, and Gresance Greiner.
Friends may call Friday, January 18, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. from the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
