Edward L. "Bud" Moebius Jr., 70, Search and Rescuer for US Navy
Edward L. "Bud" Moebius, Jr. 70 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 19, 2002 at his home after a 6 month battle with cancer.Born September 12, 1931 in Amherst, he was a life long resident of Amherst and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1949.
He served with the US Navy from 1950 to 1954 as a deep-sea diver in their Search and Rescue Team. He was employed with the Lorain Telephone Co., now Century Telephone, for 40 years as a PBX Installer, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Amherst Family Fellowship Foursquare Church; the National Rifle Association; and the Amherst Outdoor Life Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodcarving.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, LaDonna (nee Kyle) Moebius; daughters, Kimberly Schmitt of Amherst, Kelly Comstock of Vermilion, and Kyle Edwards of Grafton; six grandchildren; and a sister Dorothy Bechtel of Vermilion.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward L., Sr., in 1996 and Mildred Beatrice (nee Zimmermann) Moebius in 1996.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home: 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Amherst Family Fellowship Foursquare Church 780 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. The Rev. William Mouer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
