Charles R. Baker, 64, US Army Veteran

Charles R. Baker died on Monday, January 21, 2002, at his residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on August 22, 1937 in Ashland, Ohio. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1955.

Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years with several companies, retiring in 1986 from White Star Trucking, Detroit, MI.

He was a member of the Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio, Ely Lodge #424 of Vermilion, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland, Lorain County Scottish Rite Society, and the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio PB Morgan Chapter No. 233, and the Elyria Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #778.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Bernadine (nee Farkosh), son: Charles R. Baker, Jr. of Vermilion, daughters: Rita Meeker, of Elyria, Teresa Parker, of Crestwood, KY, 4 grandchildren, Mark A. Baker, with US Army in Fort Campbell, KY, Kristine Baker, Michelle Parker, and Melanie Meeker, brothers: Ronald, Buddy, Terry, and Dennis, all of Ashland, Ohio, sisters: Sharon, Kathleen, Barbara, Patricia, and Dorie, all of Ashland.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Harry Baker and Thelma (nee Myer) Maddock, brothers: Neal, David, and Robert, and sister: Pamela.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where the Ely Lodge #424 F & AM will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m. and the Moose Lodge # 778 service at 8:30 p.m. Private family committal services will be held at Kendeigh Cemetery, Amherst.
