Donna Sue Garten, 46, Corrections Secterary

Born October 20, 1955 in Huntington, West Virginia, she lived there till moving to Elyria in 1960 where she has made her home.

Donna had attended Lorain County Community College in Elyria for two years. She was employed by the Ohio Department of Corrections as a secretary to the Department Warden. She taught classes in Columbus in conjunction with the correctional department. She was very active member of Midway Baptist Church in Elyria.

Survivors include her son, Charles W. Garten of Elyria; her mother, Erma Meadows (nee Wright) of Elyria; her sister Linda L. Meadows of Elyria; and a niece Chelsee L. Zabriskie. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon H. Garten on March 13, 1999.

Friends may call Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the Midway Baptist Church; 41810 Griswold Rd., Elyria. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the church. The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.

Funeral arrangements have been made with Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.
