Virginia Lois Crawford, 77, Loved Ceramics

Virginia Lois Crawford (nee Young), a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday morning, January 23, 2002 at Community Health Partners after a five-month illness.

Born February 3, 1924 in Borderland, West Virginia, she was raised in Mann, West Virginia. She lived in Michigan for eight years prior to moving to Lorain 42 years ago.

Virginia was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst and loved ceramics, camping, flowers, and helping her family, neighbors and church family.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Hayden E. Crawford; her sons Hayden F. Crawford of Lorain and Dennis R. of Amherst; her mother Opal Young (nee Adams); four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Young of Medina; and a sister Lorraine Cragin of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Young in 1980; and her brother Lee Ondus Young in 2001.

Friends may call Friday 6-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Willis Hull, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst will officiate.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Lorain Community Cancer Care Center, C/o Community Health Partner H & S Center; 3700 Kolbe Rd., Lorain 44053.
