Jerry Emmerson Bartlome, 47, English Teacher
Jerry Emmerson Bartlome, a resident of Tuscon, Arizona, formerly of Amherst, passed away January 24, 2002, at Tuscon Medical Center.He was born February 14, 1954 in Oberlin. He was raised and lived in Amherst until 1972. He has lived in both Mexico and Hawaii before moving to Tuscon 9 years ago.
Jerry graduated from Ohio University and taught English in Mexico. He was employed by the Astronomy Dept. of Arizona. He enjoyed music and was a gifted pianist. He belonged to the Toast Master Club of America. While in High School, he belonged to the Stonington Masonic Lodge DeMolois where he served as a past master Chancellor and was very active in the Band and the Drama Team, He also participated in plays at the Workshop Players in Amherst.
Survivors include his parents, Richard (Dick) and Eileen (nee Kreger) Bartlome of Amherst, and his brothers James R. and Robert J. Bartlome, both of Amherst.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Gill Fuaber, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be held privately by the family.
