Winifred M. Reidy, 85, Teacher and Principal

Winifred M. "Winnie" Reidy (nee Fegen), 85 of Cleveland died Tuesday, January 29, 2002 in Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 16, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Cleveland as a child. She relocated to Lorain in 1965 and then she settled back into Cleveland in 1984.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Cleveland in 1934. In 1938, she received her bachelor of arts degree from Ursuline College, Cleveland.

Mrs. Reidy taught at St. Luke's in Lakewood, Ohio in the 1950's. Then Math and English in Longfellow School in Lorain. She retired as the principal of Saints Philip and James School in Cleveland in the late 1970's.

Mrs. Reidy's late husband Daniel F. was a Licensed Funeral Director. They owned and operated Reidy Funeral Home in Cleveland for 25 years until 1962. In the 1965, Mrs. Reidy moved to Lorain with her husband who was a funeral director at Reidy-Scanlan Funeral Home.

She was a member of Saint James Church, Cleveland where she was a volunteer driver for the sisters stationed there.

Among the survivors are her sons Daniel F. Reidy of San Francisco, California, R. Nicholas Reidy of the Philippines, Michael J. Reidy of Guam, Jerome G. Reidy of Stow, Ohio, Joseph P. Reidy of New York, New York and Matthew T. Reidy of Los Angles, California; daughter Mary Patrice Sala of West Hartford, Connecticut; fourteen Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren; a brother Robert Fegen of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Daniel F. in 1982, her parents R. Nicholas and Winifred (nee Sullivan) Fegen.

Visitation will be private. Graveside service will be Friday, February 01, 2002 10:30 A.M. in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland. With the Rev. Mr. James Stewart, Deacon officiating
