Ervin C. Oster, 94, Electrician

Ervin C. Oster, "Erv", 94 of Avon Lake, passed away, Wednesday, January 30, at the New Life Hospice Residents Center. Mr. Oster was born, April 2, 1907 in Avon Lake and had lived in the same house for all his life.

Mr. Oster retired from the Avon Lake Board of Education in 1974 after 12 years of service in maintenance. Prior to that, he worked for General Motors in the Cleveland Diesel Division and as a foreman with Meister Electric Company, Cleveland. He was a founding member of Holy Spirit Parish, Avon Lake, and enjoyed gardening and maintaining his farm.

His wife the late Mildred R. (nee Kaplo) passed away in 1992 after 60 years of marriage. Mr. Oster is survived by 2 daughters, Janet (Glen) Manning of Cleveland and Mary Anne (Phil) Posante of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sons, Kenneth J. (Tina) Oster of Lorain and Timothy W. Oster of Greendale, WI. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Louise (nee Traxler), 3 sisters, Bertha Heider, Anna Novisk and Christine Smith and 2 brothers, Jerome and Clement.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Sunday February 3 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A prayer service will be Monday, February 4, at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Holy Spirit Catholic, 410 Lear Rd., Avon Lake at 9:30 a.m. Fr. James H. Beatty of the Church will officiate. Internment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon. (440) 933-3202.
