Martha A. Dettore, 101, Art League Member
Martha A. Dettore, (nee Frasca), 101, of Oak Ridge Nursing Home, following a long illness. Mrs. Dettore was born July 29, 1900 in Cecil, PA.She was a former member of the Church of St. Peter in Lorain, and for 3 years she donated her basement for the making of the Stations of the Cross for the new Church of St. Peter, done in Venetian glass imported from Italy. Martha and some loyal art league members completed the project and remains to this day on the walls of the church.
She was a member of the Lorain County Art league. Her many talents included oil painting, tole painting, crocheting rugs, and many more.
Survivors include a daughter in law Catherine Mayhew of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Grandchildren, Ben Dettore, Martha Headington and Christine Logan. Great-grandchildren: Ben Headington, Mathew Headington, and Stevie Logan. A sister: Yolonda Dagan Stahl of Vermilion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dominick O. Dettore, a son Joseph Dettore, her parents John and Elvira Dagan, brothers Albert Frasca, Alfred Frasca, Albert Frasca, Arnold Frasca, and Philip Dagan, sister Bertha Rippetoe.
Friends may call at the Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m.
Funeral services will be 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor officiating.
