Hulon E. Morrow, 81, World War II Veteran

Hulon E. Morrow, a resident of South Amherst, passed away Tuesday morning, February 5, 2002 at Community Health Partners H & S Center, Lorain, after a sudden illness.

Born October 22, 1920 in Delta, Kentucky, was raised and lived there until joining the Army. He has been a resident of South Amherst for the last 55 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater where he received the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with six bronze stars for service in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He also received the Bronze Arrowhead, the American Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
He was employed at the Cleveland Quarries, Amherst for 43 years, retiring in 1985 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst and loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marie (nee Hardwick) Morrow, a son, Harold E. Morrow of Henrietta Township; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Neil William Morrow in 1990, his parents Charlie and Mattie (nee Dick) Morrow; his sister Beulah Hammond; and by his brothers Tilford, Grover, Roy, Frank, Arnold, Lester, and Chester Morrow.

Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave.; Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Faith Baptist Church; 440 North Lake St. Amherst. The Rev. Willis Hull, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Baptist Church, 440 North Lake St., Amherst 44001.
