Harvey D. Krieg, 72, Wage Compliance Officer

Harvey D. Krieg, 72 of Marathon FL, formerly of Lorain died on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West in Lorain following a long illness.

He was born on January 31, 1930 in Lorain; graduating from Lorain High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Krieg was employed by the American shipbuilding Company for many years, serving 2 terms as president of the boilermakers Union Local #358. Most recently he had been employed Lorain County as a wage compliance officer retiring several years ago. He moved to marathon, FL where he had received numerous awards for his work in conservation in the Florida Keys. He held a charter captain's license and chartered fishing trips from Lorain and Marathon.

He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed reading and was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Mr. Krieg is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Light) Krieg of Marathon, FL, his two daughters, Randi Mealey of Lorain, Deborah Zahorec of Milwaukee, WI, his three sons, Eric and Mark Krieg both of Lorain, and Matthew Krieg of Marathon, FL, 5 grandchildren, his brothers Donald Krieg of Grosse Isle, MI and William "Red" Krieg of Avon.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Krieg in 1958, his parents William and Mildred (nee Berry) Krieg.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain with Mr. Richard Feightner officiating.
