Raymond L. Polevka, 77, Licensed Pilot
Raymond L. Polevka passed away Sunday, February 10, 2002 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake, following a two-week illness. Mr. Polevka, was born July 14, 1924 in Cleveland and had lived in Westlake since 1954.Mr. Polevka had worked in the maintenance department for CEI at the Avon Lake Power Plant. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, a member of American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake and a past commander of the Rocky River VFW Post. He was a licensed pilot and belonged to the Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association.
He is survived by a sister: Joanna (Larry) Piatak of Grafton, a brother: Richard of Painsville Township, 3 nephews, Daniel Haynes of Westlake, Bruce Haynes, Jr. of Cleveland and Joseph Polevka of North Royalton, 2 nieces, Barbara Byers of Grafton and Bonnie Bravo of North Royalton. Others include many great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John and Helen (nee Kopacz), Mr. Polevka is preceded in death by a brother Walter and a nephew, David Polevka.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Wednesday, February 13, from 4-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, at St. Julie Billiber Church, 5500 Lear Nagel Rd. N. Ridgeville, OH 44039 at 10 a.m. Fr. John Misenko of Holy Trinity Catholic Church Avon will officiate. Internment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
