William "Bill" G. Fox, 64, Sunday School Teacher
William "Bill" G. Fox, a resident of Elyria Township passed away Wednesday February 13, 2002 at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.Born August 27, 1937 in Jackhorn, Kentucky, where he was raised until moving to Ohio when he was 16 years old. He has lived in Elyria since 1954.
Bill worked for the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 as a heavy equipment operator retiring in 1989 after 33 years. He was a member of the North Lake Missionary Baptist, South Amherst where he was very active teaching the teen Sunday School class. He was the Youth Director and greeter on Sunday mornings. He volunteered packing Christmas baskets with the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18 every year. He loved gardening, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gwendolyn Mae (nee: Price) Fox; his son William G. Fox, II of Carlisle Township, OH; his daughters, Crystal Duffield of Elyria and Melody Gallam of Oberlin, 5 grandchildren, Anthony Gallam, Monica Duffield, Joshua Gallam, Brittney Fox, and Jordan Gallam: his brother John Fox of Oakhill, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and May (nee: Wright) Fox.
Friends may call Friday 2-5 and 7-9 at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst and Saturday from 1 until time of funeral services at 2 p.m. from North Lake Missionary Baptist Church; 323 North Lake St. South Amherst, OH. The Rev. Carson Fraley, pastor of North Lake, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
