Howard Dee Worley, 78, Army Air Force Veteran

Howard Dee Worley of North Ridgeville died Friday February 15, 2002 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.

Born April 28, 1923 in Gastonia, North Carolina he came to Cleveland in 1952 from Baltimore, MD.

He served in the United States Army World War II in the 3706th Army Air Force Base Unit. He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns, having received European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four bronze stars.

He worked for the Ford Motor Co. Brookpark Engine Plant #1 as a relief man for 30 years retiring in 1980. He was a member of the United States AutoWorkers Union Local #1250, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed religion; traveling and staying at his winter home in Interlachen, Florida.

He is survived by his daughter, La Sheliea Boone, of Lorain, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, a sister, Vicie West of Hickory, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Putnam, parents James T., and Margaret (nee Earwood) Worley, brothers, Claude, James, Thadd, sisters, Lillian, Ider, Necie, Irene.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 18th, from 7-9 in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave. Lorain, where services will be Tuesday, Feb. 19th, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Richard Henry, pastor of Amherst Church of Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with VFW Post 9871 of North Ridgeville, will conduct full military honors.
