Dorothy Thornabene, 55, LAK Graduate
Dorothy J. Thornabene, of Lorain died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born February 14, 1947 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident.A 1965 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School, she received her Bachelor Degree in Geology from San Francisco State University. She had been employed as a program analyst at American Greetings in Brooklyn, Ohio retiring in 1997. She had previously been employed with the U.S. Forest Service and with the U.S. Dept. of Energy in the Fuel and Power Division in Washington DC.
She was a parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son: Roelf Thornabene of Lorain; parents: Joseph A. and Cecilia (nee Oravec) Thornabene of Lorain; brother: Joseph M. Thornabene of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her brother: Thomas J. Thornabene in 1992.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church - 1454 Lexington Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor of the church, will officiate.
The family suggests memorials in her memory to the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, in care of New Life Hospice - 5255 N. Abbe Rd. - Elyria or the nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church Restoration Fund - 418 W. 5th St. - Lorain.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
