George Revta, 83, Army Veteran
George Revta, of Lorain died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness.He was born November 9, 1918 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain since childhood. He was a 1937A graduate of Lorain High School.
Mr. Revta was employed at the former Cleveland Electric Illuminating Plant in Avon Lake for 39 years retiring in 1981.
He was a parishioner of St. Vitus Catholic Church. He was active in league golfing and bowling and was the Lorain City Bowling Tournament doubles champion for two years.
He is survived by his daughters: Rosemary Revta and Burnadette Revta both of North Ridgeville; son: Michael Revta of Amherst; brother: John Revta of Avon Lake; and sister: Marian Hummel of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary (nee Krancevich) on June 1, 1998; son: George Revta, Jr. in 1991; parents: John and Mary (nee Ladico) Revta, and by a sister: Margaret Janik in 1980.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel- 3224 Broadway - Lorain where a parish rosary will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by his funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vitus Catholic Church- East 32nd and Pearl Ave. - Lorain. The Rev. Simon Nekic, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
