Vestenia Jones, 92, Focus in Life: Living Out Her Christian Faith

Vestenia Jones (nee: Mason), 92 years of age and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday night, February 25, 2002 at her home following a lengthy illness.

Born December 4,1 909 in Anchor, KY, she lived in Middlesboro, KY until moving to Amherst, 14 years ago.

Her focus in life was that of living out her Christian faith in her family, church and community.

Survivors include her sons, Jarvis, Freddie Ray, and Virgil Jones all of Lorain, Cearl Jones of KY, Curt Jones of Berlin Heights, Ronald Jones of Louisville, KY and Donald Jones of Amehrst, her daughter Sue Tallhamer of Lorain, 22 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and a brother Lee Mason of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Mitchell Jones in 1976; her son, Harold Jones; her daughter Joyce Lorella "Tudy" Jones in 1958; and by her parents Steven and Drucilla (nee Partin) Mason.

Friends may call Wednesday, February 27, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst. Additional calling hours will be held Friday, March 1, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Creech Funeral Home, 112 South 21st Street, Middlesboro, KY 40965 where funeral services will beheld Saturday, March 2, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Hensely Chapel Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY.
