James Puskas, 88, Steel Worker

James A. Puskas, age 88, of Manchester, Missouri and formerly of Lorain, died March 5, 2002 following a lengthy illness. He was born September 27, 1913 in Lorain, Ohio and had resided in Lorain for 86 years.

Mr. Puskas worked at U.S. Steel, national Tube Division as an inspector.

He was a charter member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and of the Holy name Society of St. Vincent de Paul Church.

His hobbies included reading, bowling, and woodworking.

He is survived by his son: Robert "Bob" Puskas of Manchester, Missouri; 3 grandchildren; Sisters: Emma Balogh of Lorain and barbara Dorsett of Glendale, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Rose (nee Horvath) on May 23, 1996, son: James Puskas in 1958; parents: George and Elizabeth (nee Nemeth) Puskas; brother: George Puskas and sister: Elizabeth Pasta.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2002 from 6-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel- 3224 Broadway, Lorain where the St. Vincent de Paul Holy name Society will recite the rosary at 7:30 p.m. His funeral mass will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church - 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria with the Rev. James Ols, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
