John M. "Jay" Keating, 41, Attended Lorain Catholic
John M. "Jay" Keating, age 41, of Sheffield Township, was dead on arrival at Community Health Partners Hospital, Saturday, March 9, 2002. Dr. Paul Matus, Lorain County Coroner, ruled the cause of death was due to injuries sustained after being trapped under a fallen tree.Born July 6, 1960 in Cleveland, he had lived in Lorain for the past 40 years. He attended Lorain Catholic High School.
Jay enjoyed sports and his family.
He is survived by his son, Sean of Lorain; daughter, Mikayla Keating of Lorain; brother, Thomas M. of Lorain; sister, Karen Broekel of Sheffield Lake; nephews, Thomas Keating and David Keating, both of Cleveland; Michael Keating of Lorain; and niece, Tara Broekel of Sheffield Lake.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas M. Keating, Jr. in 1974; mother, Ruth (nee Gallagher) Keating in 1991; 3 brothers, Kevin in 1983, Patrick in 1990, and Michael in 1995.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harris Rd., Sheffield Lake, Rev. Stephen Shields will officiate.
The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
