Katherine Agnes Jones, 93, Lifetime Elyria Resident

Born August 25, 1908 in Elyria, where she was raised and graduated from Elyria High School in the class of 1925. She had been a lifetime resident of Elyria.

Katherine was a life member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. She was also a member of the Russia Township Farm Women's Club; the Russia Township Needle Guild, and she volunteered at the Lorain County Farm Grange Cafeteria. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, flower and vegetable gardening, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Leland E. Jones; her sons Tom J. Jones of San Jose, CA and Ken L. Jones of Pittsfield Township; her daughter Shirley Law of Amherst, ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and her sister Edith Knipper of Oberlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna (nee Kriebel) Gerhardinger; and by her brothers Henry Gerhardinger in 1996 and Hubert Gerhardinger in 1951.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayer will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 a.m. from Sacred Heart Catholic Church; 410 West Lorain St., Oberlin. The Rev. Fr. William Padavick, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
