Norman Statford, 66, Piccolo Pizza Proprietor
Norman H. Statford, age 66, of Elyria, died Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Specialty Hospital of Lorain, following a short illness.Born May 24, 1935 in Lorain, he has lived in Elyria for the past 20 years.
He served in the US Navy with the rank of Seamen during the early 1950's.
Norman was the proprietor of Piccolo Pizza in Lorain and Elyria for 20 years, and enjoyed going to pizza and restaurant trade shows and auctions.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elyria.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (nee Hurd); sons, Sean, of Vermilion, Travis Begley and Angilo Begley, both of Elyria; daughters, Denise Roe, of Lorain, Christine Finley, Justine Outland, Jennifer Cooper, all of Vermilion, Holly Smith, of Eaton Twp.; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Kozora, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ann (nee Halas) Slumske, and a son Christopher.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14 from 5-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Private graveside services will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Gary Malin, associate pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elyria, will officiate. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
