Ethel M. Coleman (nee Russell), 89, South Amherst First United Methodist Church
Ethel M. Coleman (nee Russell), 89 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2002 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.Born September 12, 1912 in Lorain, where she was raised. She had lived in Amherst from 1945 to 1969 and then moved to South Amherst for 32 years and then moved back to Amherst where she has lived for the past 12 1/2 years.
She was a member of South Amherst First United Methodist Church and a former member of Park Ave. Methodist from 1946 to 1957. She was a member of the Naomi Group of Lorain County and the Women's Society of Christian Services.
Survivors include her son, Mr. Darwin D. Coleman of San Diego, California; daughter Donna Bartish of Wakeman; Six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; her sister Eleanor Myer of Tice, Fl.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank K. Coleman who died Sept. 9, 1984; 2 brothers; 2 sisters and one great granddaughter.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:00 p.m. from the Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Lunsford, pastor of South Amherst First United Methodist Church, will officiate. A private burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
