Joseph Knezetic, 75, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church
Joseph Knezetic, 75, of Salem, Ohio, and formerly of Lorain, died Saturday March 16, 2002 in the emergency room at Salem Hospital in Salem after a sudden illness.He was born November 8, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio and had resided in Salem for the past ten years moving from Lorain. He was a 1945 graduate of Lorain High School.
Mr. Knezetic served with the US Army during World War II and was stationed in France after the war.
He worked at US Steel in Lorain as a rigger for 43 years retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem. He was a past member of the Nativity Holy Name Society.
Mr. Knezetic was a 50-year member of the Croatian Fraternal Order. He was devoted to helping and supporting his church. He was an avid sports fan and a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons: Jospeh A. Knezetic of Omaha, Nebraska and James E. Knezetic of Salem, Ohio; 5 grandchildren and sister Ann Palinski of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (nee Triniszewski) Knezetics on May 10, 1995 and parents Joseph and Barbara (nee Mihalic) Knezetic.
Friends may call Monday 6-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct militay honors.
