Michael R. MacAvoy, 54, Holy Trinity Church

Michael R. MacAvoy-54 of Avon, formerly of Avon Lake, passed away, Tuesday, March 19, at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, following a one-month illness. Mr. MacAvoy was born, June 24, 1947 in Cleveland and had lived in Avon the past 30 years.

Mr. MacAvoy had recently retired from LTV Steel, Cleveland, as a Millwright after 33 years of service. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving in Viet Nam from 1966-1969, then serving in the Reserves until 1971. He was a 1966 graduate of Avon Lake High School. Mr. MacAvoy was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake and a Life Member of VFW Post 7035, Avon. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Church, Avon. He enjoyed travel.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra (nee Brant) whom he married September 6, 1966. Other survivors include a sone Michael (Janet) of Avon Lake, a daughter Stephanie at home, his father Joseph R. MacAvoy of North Ridgeville, a brother Timothy MacAvoy of Mundeline,Ill and a step-brother, John Votava, of Avon. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie (nee Brennan), his stepmother Mae, a stepbrother Richard and a stepsister Virginia.

Friends may call the BUSCH-BURMIESTER FAMILY CHAPEL , 32000 Detriot Rd., Avon, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home, at 8:00 p.m. Fr. John Misenko of Holy Trinity Church will officiate. Interment will be Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Jaycox Road, Avon. Cremation is by the Busch Crematory. Memorials may be forwarded to the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 5255 North Abbe Rd., Elyria, 44035.
