Angel Soto-Leon, 76, US Army Veteran
Angel Soto-Leon, age 76, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Specialty Hospital of Lorain, following a lengthy illness.He was born on April 22, 1925 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, living in New York for 24 years before moving to Lorain in 1973.
He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War.
He was employed at Colejon at NASA for 6 years, retiring in 1992, prior to this he worked at Elyria Foundry from 1973-1984. While living in New York he had worked at US Steel from 1957 to 1972 and also worked as a supervisor at Loft Candies Manufacturing Company in New York.
Angel was a member of the First Spanish Baptist Church, Lorain.
He enjoyed playing card games, reading, playing dominoes, craftsmanship, writing, and he loved quality time with everyone in the family. Angel loved children and was always smiling.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Agueda (nee Ortiz), son: Angel Soto, Jr., of Acworth, GA, daughters: Alma Mendoza, Alicia Kimbro, Abigail Howard, all of Lorain and Agnes Soto, of San Diego, CA, 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Monserrate and Justina (nee Leon) Soto, brother: Pablo Soto-Leon, and sisters: Maria Alejandro and Manuela Rosario.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, Pastor Luis Santiago, First Spanish Baptist Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign War Post #451.
