Esther M. Chaplin, 84, Enjoyed Bird Watching

Esther M. Chaplin (nee Murray), 84, of Avon Lake, passed away, Wednesday, March 20, at her home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Chaplin was born May 24, 1917 in Cleveland, graduated from Lakewood High School in 1935 and moved to Avon Lake in 1955.

She was employed as a legal secretary for the Celebreeze Attorneys in Cleveland from 1936 - 1941 and then as a bookkeeper and office manager for William Chaplin Masonry for forty years. Esther was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Westlake; the Gideons Auxiliary of Lorain County for 32 years and served on the board of directors of Morning Sunshine Radio Ministries. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

Mrs. Chaplin is survived by a son, William F. (Helen) of Elyria Twp.; two daughters, Kathleen A> Chaplin of Avon Lake and Beth M. (Gene) Laird of Smithville, Ohio; ten grandchildren and three great- grandchildren and a brother, Thomas C. (Maria) Murray of Brunswick.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William P.; a son, David D. Chaplin (Linda), a grand-daughter, Bonnie E.; great-grandson, David; three sisters, Genevieve Charters, Betty Goede and Katy Goede; three brothers, Douglas Murray, Charles Murray and William Murray, and her parents, Frank C. and Katherine (nee Robinson) Murray.

Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake form 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, March 25 at 11 a.m. Dr. Jack Jacobs, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Westlake, will officiate. Burial will take place at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River.
