James A. Simmons, 55, 1964 Graduate of Admiral King
James A. Simmons, age 55, of Lorain, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at the Ohio Extended Care Center following an extended illness. He was born November 6, 1946 in Lorain, and had been a life-long resident of the city.He was a 1964 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School. He had most recently been employed as a warehouseman for the Lorain Novelty Company. Prior to that he had been employed as a laborer for the American ShipBuilding Company.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ (Lorain) whose hobbies included fishing and hunting.
Survivors include brothers: Robert of Lorain and Donald of Bradenton, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father: Frederick Simmons, Sr., his mother: Matilda (nee Schenker) Simmons, and a brother: Frederick Simmons, Jr.
Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shim0-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ron Dikel, interim pastor of St. John United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park- Amherst Township.
