Sarah M. Lockard, 85, Manager at Hills
Sarah M. Lockard, (nee Popovich) age 85, of both Lorain and Sanford, North Carolina, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an extended illness. She was born May 6, 1916 in Gary, Indiana and had been a resident of Lorain for most of her life.A member of First Presbyterian Church of Lorain, she had been employed as a jewelry department manager for the Hills Department Stores for fifteen years.
Her hobbies included golfing, fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years: Wilbur J. "Jack" Lockard, a son: Jaque W. Lockard of Sanford, North Carolina, a daughter: LaRita M. Pohorence of Amherst, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Mike and Dorothy (nee Vukin) Popovich, sisters: Katherine Jiminez, Anna Bonzar, and Mary Sipos, and by brothers: Steve and Nick Popovich.
Visitation will be Saturday from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel- 3224 Broadway- Lorain. Sr. Catherine Romancik, S.N.D. Chaplain of Community Health Partners will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens-- Avon. The family suggests memorials in her name to New Life Hospice- 5255 North Abbe Road- Elyria, Ohio 44035.
