James M. Paytosh, 69, Pipefitter

James M. Paytosh, age 69 of Lorain died Saturday, march 23, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West following a brief illness.

He was born July 21, 1932 in Cleveland and had been a Lorain resident since his childhood.

Mr. Paytosh was a 1951 graduate of Lorain High School and went on to serve in the United State Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of both Italian-American Veterans Post #1 of Lorain as well as Mullen-Murrary Post #451 of the V.F.W.

A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, he was employed as a pipefitter in the #3 Seamless Mill of U.S. Steel's Lorain Works. He retired in 1987 following 37 years of service.

A member of United Steelworkers' Local 1104, Mr. Paytosh enjoyed all types of nautical things especially lighthouses and anything pertaining to the Great Lakes. He was also an avid traveler.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra M. Paytosh, of Lorain, sons: John S. and Michael J. both of Lorain, grandchildren, Niccole Paytosh, Danielle Paytosh, Steven Paytosh, Michael Paytosh and Robert Paytosh, and sisters: Rose Yuhasz and Jeannie Ceja both of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred (nee Svorec, parents; Steve and Mary (nee Bartechko) Paytosh and by brothers Donald and Robert.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 27, 2002 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. G. Michael Williamson, associate pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where V.F.W. Post #451 will conduct full military honors.
