Jack W. Manning, 81, American Bridge Co. Superintendent
Jack W. Manning, 81 years of age and a resident of Lorain passed away Sunday, March 24, 2002 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain after a brief illness.He was born December 30, 1920 in Cadillac, Michigan and has been a Lorain resident for the last 38 years.
He was employed by American Bridge Co. in US Steel, Lorain for 32 years retiring in 1983 as an Assistant Superintendent. He was a member of the Structural Iron Workers Union Local 17 and enjoyed camping.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Ellen Manning (nee: Mara); his sons, Jack M. Manning and Larry V. Manning, both of Vermilion, Michael D. Manning of Amherst; Douglas G. Manning and Timothy J. Manning both of Lorain; two grandsons and 6 granddaughters; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothea Schuster of Vermilion and Lorraine Kolyno of Sarasota, FL and by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig D. Manning in 1989; by a brother Douglas A. Manning; and by a sister Virginia M. Konnerth.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 26, 2002 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Peter Kerlin, pastor of Old Stone United Methodist Church, Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
