John C. "Mike" Tillman, 68, Maintenance Man
John C. "Mike" Tillman 68, of Lorain died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness.He was born April 10, 1933 in St. Louis, MO. He moved as a child to Lorain, Ohio and has been a resident since. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1950 and attended John Carroll University for 4 years, where he was a member of the ARMY R.O.T.C.; He served as a Captain in the Korean War.
Mr. Tillman retired from Spitzer Plaza Hotel as a maintenance man two months ago, He worked there for 15 years. He also retired Chemist for Drew Chemical Co. in Cleveland in 1982. He worked there for twenty-five years.
He was a member of St. Mary of the lake Catholic Church and served as a commentator. He enjoyed boating. He owned a 1956, 30ft Chris Craft.
He is survived by his wife of three years Monica (nee Magyary), sons Michael F., John C., Thomas A., and Eric P. Tillman all of Lorain, and daughter Janet L. Grueser of Elyria, sisters Theodora Burton of MO. Mary Bullerdick of St. Louis, MO and brother James Tillman of St Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Norbert and Helen (nee Kendrich) and his brother Andrew Tillman.
Friends may call Monday, 2:00pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. In the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, Lorain.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by 10:00 AM Mass in St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 8th Street and Reid Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Daniel C. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
