Mary Carmela DiFilippo, 89, Nurse's Assistant

Maria AKA Mary Carmela nee Tenne DiFilippo, 89, of Lorain died Monday, April 1, 2002 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following an extended illness.

She was born September 8, 1912 in Montenero, Italy and came to the USA in 1930 and resided in Lorain.

Mrs. DiFilippo had been employed at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain as a nurse's assistant in Pediatrics for 25 years, retiring in 1977.

She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and its former Altar & Rosary Society and Senior Citizens of the church. She was also a member of the St. Joseph's Golden Agers, The Women of Moose Lodge and the Italian-American Club of Lorain.

Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing, swimming and bowling.

Survivors include sons, Elmer of Rumford, Rhode Island, Angelo of Springfield, Virginia, John Jr. of Houston, Texas, daughters Eda Mikolaj of Columbus, OH and Elsa Clauson oaf Hilton Head, S. Carolina, 17 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, sister Susan Bergman of Oregon City, Oregon and brother Roland Tenne of Boise, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John Dominic, who died in 1997, parents, Marco and Cecilia (nee Difiore) Tenne, brothers, Frank and Amelio and sister, Concetta.

Friends may call Thursday, April 04, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, April 05, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, conducted by the Holy Name Society of the church. Funeral service at the funeral home will be Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. followed by 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain with the Rev. G. Michael Williamson Associate pastor officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Lorain.
