Vannette L. Matesic, 73, Enjoyed Bowling and Traveling

Vannette L. Matesic (nee: Frederick), 73 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at New Life Hospice Residential Center after a lengthy illness.

Born July 16, 1928 in Lorain, she has been a lifetime resident of Lorain. She graduated from Clearview High School with the class of 1946.

She was a wife and mother. Vannette was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst; the Amherst Business and Professional Women and the Amherst WHO Club. She enjoyed bowling in league competition, traveling and was a sport enthusiast.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas M. Matesic of Vero Beach, FL and Michael A. Matesic of Amherst; her daughter Sharon Luby of Vermilion, six grandchildren, brothers William Frederick of Lorain and Daniel Frederick of Euclid and sister Ruth Murdy of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Mike Matesic in 1975 and by her parents Rudolph and Clara (nee Weichel) Frederick.

Friends may call Friday, April 5, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, at 9:00 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
