Charles C. Snowden, 71, U.S. Army Veteran

Born June 11, 1930 in Toronto, Ohio. He had lived in Lorain for 30 years then moving to Amherst where he has lived for the past 12 years.

Charles worked for National Gypsum/Goldbond retiring in 1991 after working 25 years as a lead lineman. He was a member of Delaware United Methodist, Lorain. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a tank commander. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, and being outdoors. He was a good and loving father.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Margaret (nee Cendrosky) Snowden; his sons Donald Snowden of Hickory, NC, Charles A. Snowden of Amherst, David L. Snowden of Lorain; his daughters Laura Cook of Amherst, and Annie Lyons of Lorain, 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; his step father, Myron "Cy" Russell of Lorain; his brothers Gene Snowden and William Snowden both of Lake Milton, OH, David Snowden of Boardman; his sisters Virginia Hardwick of Champion, OH, Wanda Reece of E. Liverpool, OH, Julie Clegg of Lordstown, OH, Barbara Miller of Warren, OH and Kathy Calvin of Salem, OH.
He was preceded in death by his father James Snowden in 1977, his mother Vona (nee Ammon) Snowden in 1965; his step mother, Antoinette Tarjack in 2000, his brothers, Herbert and Jimmy Snowden; his siters Erma Hall and Ruth Gibson.

Friends may call Saturday 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave.; Amherst. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:00 p.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. J. Dennis Henkle, pastor of Delaware Ave. United Methodist, will officiate.
