Robert L. Gillenwaters, 77, Truck Driver
Robert L. Gillenwaters, 77, of Lorain passed away Friday, April 5, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center Lorain.He was born June 16, 1924 in Avon Lake where he grew up and lived most of his adult life in Lorain. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed as an independent truck driver. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 30, Lorain and the Croatian Club, Lorain.
Mr. Gillenwaters is survived by a daughter, Sandra Hambly of Amherst; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild and two sisters, Mildred Michalski of Lorain and Phyllis Bluffston of Tampa, FL and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Perry Gillenwaters and his parents, John and Bertha (nee Leonard) Gillenwaters.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Beldon Road, Avon Lake from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2002. Services will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday, April 10th at 10:00 a.m. Services will be conducted by the chaplain of the American Legion Post 30, Lorain. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon where the American Legion Post 30 will conduct military honors. Memorials may be forwarded to a charity of choice.
