Walter T. Salisbury, 74, World War II Veteran
Walter T. Salisbury, 74, of Pikeville, Kentucky, and formerly of Lorain, died on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, after an extended illness.He was born may 12, 1927 in Osborn, Floyd County, Kentucky and served as a private in the United States Army during World War II. He came to Lorain from Kentucky in 1963 and returned there last year.
He worked in the Blast Furnace Dept. of Lorain Works, US Steel, retiring in 1980 with 12 years of services.
He was a member of United States Steelworkers Union Local #1104.
Surviving is a son: Harold Edwin Salisbury, of Lorain, 5 daughters: Regina Kay Carter, Sheliah Rose Salisbury, and Johnanna Cruz, all of Lorain, Sharon Faye Thacker and Janet Leigh Salisbury of Harold Kentucky, sisters: Retha Rogers, Novella Spears, and MSalary Lou McKinney all of Harold KY, Lerlie Harrington of Van Lear, KY, Ella Brady of Newhall, West Virginia, and Darlene Akers of Betsy Lane, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Roberts in 1995, sons, Tommy Dale in 1962 and Randall Gene in 2001, daughters, Kimberly in 1966, Teresa L. Otero in 2001, brothers: Ishemal, Herbert and James Salisbury.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 from 11:00 a.m. to 12Noon in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Graveside services will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
