Lydia McClain, 81, Sunday School Teacher

Lydia McClain (nee Jackson), 81 of Vermilion, died Sunday, April 7, 2002 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness.

She was born January 14, 1921 in Ford City, PA and has been a Vermilion resident since 1946.

Mrs. McClain was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Vermilion where she taught Sunday School. She loved sewing on plastic, crocheting, painting, cooking, gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Marion Gulett of Vermilion, and Sandra Epling of Vermilion, son, Myron McClaine of Lorain, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Adeline (nee Dunmar) Jackson, her husband, Homer McClain in 1989, grandchild David McClain, sisters Dora Dunn and Mary Jackson and brothers, Isaac Jackson, Lee Jackson and Herb Jackson.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 12:30 p.m. The Reverend Kenneth Shultz will be officiating the Reverend Mark Grossoehme pastor of the Chapel by the Lake Christian Missionary Alliance Church will be co-officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
