Paul D. Matty, 81, Inventory Control Clerk
Paul D. Matty, age 81, of Lorain died Sunday, April 7, 2002 at the Kingston of Vermilion following an extended illness. He was born December 11, 1920 in Star Junction, Pennsylvania and had been a resident of Lorain for the past 56 years.A graduate of Star Junction High School, he had most recently been employed as an inventory control clerk in the warehouse of B.F. Goodrich Corporation in Avon Lake. He had previously been employed as a driver/salesman for the Home Dairy Company, Lorain, as well as an assembler by Western Automatic and the Lorain Products Company.
Mr. Matty was a parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, Lorain.
He was an accomplished artist and painter of murals who had a special interest in the use of oils and acrylics. He was also an avid woodworker and was proud to have donated to the Lorain International Festival Committee a replica that he had build of the Lorain Lighthouse for use in past International Festival Parades.
Additional hobbies include silk floral arranging and working with H-O scale trains.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jennie (nee Horton), a son: Ronald Matty of Avon, a daughter, Cindy Kalassay of Amherst Township and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susan (nee Kenderish) Matty, by a brother: George, and by sisters: Pauline Weisneski, Margaret Olshanski, Betty Ambrosio, Mary Partridge, Annie Kusma, and Sue Hura.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 09, 2002, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where a Parastas Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 10, 2002 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will follow by a Divine Liturgy Service at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Michael Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 3056 Reeves Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. James Batch, pastor of St. Michael Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
