Elizabeth Majoras, 92, Accomplished Baker

Elizabeth Majoras (nee Olah), age 92, of Lorain, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Born in Hungary on December 23, 1909, Mrs. Majoras had been a resident of Lorain for more than eighty years.

An active member of the Hungarian Reformed United church of Christ, she was also an active member of the Busy Martha's Guild, as well as the Hungarian Reformed Sick Benefit Society. She was a former member of the church choir and participated extensively in actives of the Hungarian Reformed Credit union.

An accomplished baker, she was extremely well known for the poppyseed cakes that she produced. Additional hobbies included cooking and crocheting.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Majoras of Lorain, daughter: Eleanor Duscha of Olmsted Township, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Paul Olah, and sister Rose Abahazi of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Julius in 1991, by her parents: John and Elizabeth (nee Kishiski) Olah, brother: Stephan Olah, and sisters: Mary Eski and Hazel Ternes.

Friends may call Wednesday, April 10, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a memorial service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Friends may also call Thursday, April 11, 2002 in Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ (East 31st and Globe Ave.) from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Zoltan Kelemen, interim pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.

The family suggests memorials in her memory to the Hungarian Reformed U.C.C., 1691 East 31st Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
