Carol A. Andrzejewski, 61, Elyria Schools Teacher for 34 Years

Carol A. Andrzejewski, age 61, of Elyria, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at the Cleveland Click Foundation following a lengthy illness.

She was born on June 3, 1940 in Lorain, Ohio where she had lived most of her life, moving to Elyria in 1995. She attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Elementary School, Hawthorn Jr. High School and Lorain High School. She received a BS in Education from Kent State University and a MA in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College. She was a teacher for the Elyria City Schools for 34 years, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of Nativity BVM Catholic Church in Lorain and its Worship Commission, sang in the choir, Altar and Rosary Society and was a PSR teacher. She was a life member of LORCORTA and ORTA, a member of the Academy of Lifelong learning-curriculum committee at LCCC, the Elyria Schools and Friends Alumni Association Board Member, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women and the Lorain County Historical Society. She had won the Hall of Fame Award form the Elyria Schools Friends and Alumni Association in 1998 and the Martha Holden Jennings Award.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, crafting, birding and continuing education.

Survivors include her mother, Stella (nee Szelagowski) of Elyria, brothers Robert Andrzejewski of Lynbrook, NY and Dr. David Andrzejewski of Orange Park, FL; 5 Nieces and Nephews and 3 Great Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander A. Andrzejewski in 1990.

Friends may call on Sunday April 14, 2002 from 4-8pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave, Lorain, where a rosary service will be conducted by the Altar & Rosary Society at 5:00pm.
