Vernon Johnson, 67, Retired Roofer

He was born September 1, 1934 in Hyden County, Kentucky and had resided in Sheffield Lake since 1966. He had been a Lorain County resident since he was 15.

Mr. Johnson worked as a roofer at Roof Craft, Inc. of Cleveland for 30 years retiring in 1999.

He was a social member of VFW Post 8686 in Sheffield Lake, a past member of Local #756 in Lorain and a past member of Eagles #343 in Lorain.

Mr. Johnson coached little league baseball in Sheffield Lake. He enjoyed making bonfires, cooking out, bowling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda (nee Fitzpatric), daughters Mrs. Frank (Deborah) Rigo and Pamella Johnson, both of Lorain, son, Kevin Johnson (wife Toni) of Grafton; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sister Rita Johnson of Orlando, FL, brother Ernest Johnson of Tampa, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mollie (nee Sizemore) Keeney and sister, Henda Lee Jones.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 14, 2002 from 1-3 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Cremation will follow.
