Eleanor Cherry, 92, Office Manager
Eleanor Cherry, 92 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at Ohio Extended Care Center.Born April 21, 1909, she was a life long resident. She was employed in the insurance industry for 45 years as an office manager. She retired from the Hill Insurance Agency in Oberlin in 1974 after 15 years.
She is a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Ms. Cherry was also a 50 year member of the Philathea class at the church, a 1927A Lorain High School graduate, notary public for 45 years.
She was the past director, vice president, secretary, and treasurer of Lorain City Association of Avid Bowler. She was inducted into the Lorain's Women's Bowling League in June 1983. She also was the treasurer of Saxon Club Bowling league for 30 years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her nephews, Charles Hemp of New Hampshire, Lloyd Dobbins Jr. of Berea, KY, Bradford Dobbins of N. Olmsted, OH, nieces: Pamela Reece of Lakewood, OH and Cheryl Dobbins of Lakewood, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Teressa (Zenz) Cherry, sister, June Dobbins.
Friends may call Friday, April 19, 2002 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 20th at 10AM at the funeral home. Rev. Darlene Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
