Josef Groselj, 73, Crane Operator
Josef Groselj, age 73, of Lorain, died on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at Community Health partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a sudden illness.Born June 25, 1928 in Stujanski, Yugoslavia, he moved to Lorain in 1957.
He was employed as a crane operator at US Kobe Steel for 19 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to this he worked at Fruehauf.
Josef was a member of Ss Cyril and Methodius Church, Lorain and also the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Franciska (nee Rantasa) , son: Joe Rudy, of Lorain, daughters: Susan Rantasa, Josephine Groselj and Genie Groselj, all of Lorain, 4 grandchildren, brother Lojze and Miha both of Yugoslavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Maria (nee Jevnik) Groselj, brothers: Anton and Frank, sisters: Maria Koretic, Antonia Groselj, Angela Groselj and Olga Pavolich.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain where a rosary will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 22, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at Ss Cyril and Methodius Church. Rev. Fr. Paul Krajnik, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
